Can you imagine what would happen if every women in the country stopped working?

Something similar happened on 24th October 1975, in the small country,

Iceland. 90% of the women in Iceland refused to work for a day, known as the Women’s Day Off.  A historic day for Iceland. On this day 90% of the women didn’t go to the office, neither did they do housework, nor they look after the children. Instead, they came out on the streets to protest gender inequality.  As a result, the country came to a standstill. Several banks, factories, and shops had to close down. Since these women said they wouldn’t look after children on that day, the husband’s had to take care of them. Many husbands couldn’t even cook. Though this protest lasted 1 day, it had such a huge impact that it helped everyone realize women’s   importance in the society. New laws to ensure gender equality were implemented in the country over the next few decades, and as a result, today, according to the World Economic Forum’s Gender Gap Report, Iceland is the World’s no 1 country for gender equality.
