This Indian Forest Glows in Night
This Indian Forest Glows in Night – If you have seen James Cameron famous film, Avatar, then you must have noticed that there are some plants that glow in the dark. That is a film.
But how would you feel if you come to know that this exists in reality as well?
A similar glow forest in the dark forest is found in India.
In the Western Ghats, if you visit Goa and Maharashtra, in the month of June-October, then you might see the glow in the forest with your own eyes!
At the time of monsoon, these forests in the Western Ghats get completely soaked in the rain. If you go there in the day, you’d find nothing unusual. But at the night the real magic happens.
In these forests, there are tiny mushrooms called Mycena. They almost look like moss. Their uniqueness is that at night, when there is a lot of moisture present in the surrounding environment, then they start to glow in the dark. It seems as if the entire forest is glowing. This property is called BIO-LUMINESCENCE.
For example, an exact location is Bhagwan Mahavir Wild Life Sanctuary in Goa where you can witness this.
