Svalbard - Visa not required

Around 800kms to the North of Norway there is a island called Svalbard. The special thing is that to live or work here, you don’t require a visa. It might be the only such place on earth. If you want to permanently settle here all you need is a job and a place to stay on the island. You’re allowed to live there. There is no need to apply for visa. In Svalbard’s capital Longyearbyen only 2,400 people live. This is the reason why 1/3rd of them are immigrants. They’re from 50 different countries. But if you’re seriously interested, keep one thing in mind – the place is extremely cold. Winter temperatures can reach upto -20 degree Celsius. In summers, it dosent go beyond 10 degree Celsius. Also, if you’re travelling outside the city you need to carry a rifle on you as the population of polar bears here is more than humans, in comparison. Also, keep in mind if something happens to you – if you get hurt or get sick, then there are no hospitals here. You’ll have to go to mainland Norway to go to any hospital. If you’re looking to go as a tourist, then being visa free isn’t that meaningful because only one flight flies from Norway to here. And since you are going to Norway you’d need a visa to go there!
