Ukraine is the country that had nuclear weapons but it gave them up. Once Ukraine had the third-largest nuclear arsenal. 

But, in 1996, Ukraine gave them up. One of the largest reasons for it was the Chernobyl disaster. 

The deadliest nuclear disaster of 1996. The radiation emitted during this was 400 times more than that from the Hiroshima bomb. This radiation travelled so far that radioactive rain was seen in Ireland. 

Apart from this, worlds deepest metro station is in Ukraine. 105mts below the ground. Arsenalna Metro Station. 

Finally, the literacy rate of Ukraine is 99.4% as per 2021 data.
