history of oceans
Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, and Pacific Ocean, these names were given by humans.
Names coined by humans.
In reality, all oceans on the earth are connected with each other, really there is only one ocean on earth.
But interestingly, despite that, there are places where the oceans do not meet each other.
Such as in the Gulf of Alaska, the Atlantic and pacific oceans do not mix together.
Often, in places, they can be seen as different colors, as if there is an invisible wall between the tow.
From one side of the gulf of Alaska, comes light-colored melted water from the glaciers, and from other side, impure, warmer water.
The salt content in water from glaciers is relatively lower, it is fresh water, while the ocean water is saltier.
Due to these differences, in places, it almost creates a separation known as Water Stratification.
such photos are often shared on the internet to claim that the Pacific and Atlantic oceans do not mix, but it is incorrect because this border is ever-changing.
This isn't a static border between the 2 oceans.
